Material for this study was gathered in Finland during 2006-2008. First, I sketch the area of my study by positioning it within the fields of medical anthropology and social study of the body. Then, I discuss my study, first from the viewpoint of social body in medicine and then from the viewpoint of narrating the self. Finally, I conclude the article by outlining the changed self of the injured person.
